Just off Barnesville's Historical Victorian home lined Main Street is beautiful Georgia Avenue where you will find this off-the-main gemstone. Love restored this gem to its current glory with respectful attention to the Victorian era. Details that stir the senses to a bygone time of horse-drawn carriages and cobbled streets lit by gas lamps at night on every street showed the way home. A time when beauty and craftsmanship met at any place the eye may fall. With this home it begins at the sidewalk where the walkway starts toward the front porch. Greeting you are two pineapples - one to each side, both the very Southern symbol of welcome. The front porch is one of those sacred spots where fellowship happens. Above are ornamental medallions where the chandeliers and light fixture meet the high ceilings. All the fireplace parts from mantel to hearth for each of the 6 fireplaces is hand carved and beautifully done. Each is hooked up for gas with artificial logs and has a cast iron summer cover for warmer seasons. In the dining room is a gorgeous wood framed bay window with a cushioned bench running its entire width. I can see this becoming a favored spot for tucking your legs up and sipping some Earl Grey from a fine porcelain cup and saucer snuggled with a good comfortable book. If you close your eyes you can smell the arrangement of fresh-cut flowers in the magnificent centerpiece on the dining room table close by. There's a tin of biscuits calling you from the kitchen a few steps away. All these turns of the century features belie the fact that behind the scenes this charming home is updated with up to date wiring and plumbing and is outfitted with modern energy saving appliances and systems. Trust me, you wouldn't want the hand pump at the sink or ice blocks delivered to put in your ice box to try to keep things fresh or a wood or coal burning stove to cook or bake with, and those hand cranked washing machine and clothesline out back for drying.
